On Febuary 21, 1965, Malcolm x was going to address the organization of the afro American unity. Shortly into this speech, a couple men that were apart of the Nation of Islam rushed on to the stage and shot Malcolm x. Malcolm was said to be pronounced dead at 3:30 p.m that day when he had 21 gun shot wounds. The reaction to his death was varied by many people. Martin Luther King wrote a telegraph to his wife sending his sympathy saying he was saddened by the death of Malcolm, who he believed had a great influence. Other people said Malcolm was killed for fighting for equal rights and freedom.
this man is very interesting. I feel that his more "in your face" approach was a very important part to the movement he was able to show that blacks were not just nonviolent pushovers and that some would fight back if need be.
ReplyDeleteI never knew that he was a speaker for Islam. To be able to be recognized by Martin Luther King Jr must be an honor.
ReplyDeleteTo know that even after death Malcolm was able to influence many movements id very honorary and remarkable. To hear that 2 men shot this man 21 times in horrible. All he was doing was standing up for what he believed in and they murdered him, just shows that they were cowards and scared of Malcolm and him movements.
ReplyDeleteI agree Malcolm X has part the legacy of that civil right movement accomplishment overcome. therefore He's a advocator the same time he was religious faithful man.
