Michael Cammarata

Michael Cammarata was 22 years old when he had died as a fire fighter during September 11, 2001. Michael had only completed 9 out of the 14 weeks at the Fire Academy. Michael was an Italian- American who had loved to play baseball and hockey. During his high school experience he won MVP for the hockey team, he had also been team captain and made it to the All Star team. Michael had left college in 1999 to work with his father and waiting to be accepted as a New York firefighter. Michael had scored a perfect on the New York City Fire Department test. He had a passion for it since he was a child. His uncle was also a firefighter. Michael has a brother who left the NYPD to pursue a career as a firefighter to carry on his dream, the other family members he has are his parents, his grandmother and a sister. Michael would've turn 23 on October 5th, but he had died saving lives of others. I thought it was sad to know a person dying so young when they could have had a full life ahead of them. I thought it was amazing how much dedication and passion he had as firefighter. In a way, I think he wouldn't have died any other way, but being a hero and rescuing the victims of the attack. What surprised me the most was how he had left college to become a firefighter, but it's nice to know some people go straight for their dream when they can, if it weren't for him, many other people would have probably died during the attack. We could all learn that we should put hard work and dedication in what we do, because we never know when we could die and Michael didn't die in vain, he died a hero. We should cherish the moments we have because it is important to try and live life to the fullest before you die, which Michael did. Make every moment count.
